Africa Youth Leadership Forum (AYLF) is a collaborative initiative by a group of friends in Africa.
This effort is based on the recognition that the principles and leadership example of Jesus provide a model that aspiring leaders from all nations and creeds can emulate. Central to his message is reconciliation and personal integrity through transformed minds and hearts – issues of critical importance in Africa today.
At the heart of Africa Youth Leadership Forum (AYLF) is the dream that the current leadership of Africa would mentor and encourage the future leadership to be servant leaders who know how to reconcile relationships, speak the truth without being religious or divisive, see people without labels or stereotypes, and ultimately love each other and those whom they lead.
This initiative is being pioneered by a group of young people from University campuses around East Africa and those who have just graduated from University but have been in leadership while at campus. The vision is also growing to other countries like South Africa,DRC,Southern sudan, but also connecting to abigger family of friends around the world .
Through the Ugandan core group, many other core groups have been developed around the region that are helping in organizing forua as a way of passing on and dialoging with other University student leaders in Africa what they continue to learn and cherish.
Many people recognize the importance of Jesus' words and methods of leadership, yet few people have been able to effectively implement them in secular leadership. Our hope is that (AYLF) gatherings will provide many opportunities for different generations of leaders to interact and candidly discuss the way of applying Jesus’ approach to the various important issues facing our communities, our nations, continent and our world today.
The Youth who are participating in this forum are leaders from universities, colleges, NGOs and Government Institutions across the region. These participates vary from Youth organizations, university Guild leaderships, religious groups student leaders, Cultural students leaders with leadership qualities and a desire to lead in the future. They the participates are nominated by Members of parliament, university presidents, and local community leaders.
